Fascist Ideology in Japan during the 1930's

The aftermath of the Great Depression resulted in an international surge of fascism and the creation of several fascist regimes that adopted fascist policies. The most important new fascist regime was Nazi Germany, under the leadership of Adolf Hitler. With the rise of Hitler and the Nazis to power in 1933, liberal democracy was dissolved in Germany, Nazis mobilized the country for war, with expansionist territorial aims against several countries.

Timeline showing the steps of aggressive expansion by nations

The war in the Pacific started on December 7, 1941, when Japanese warplanes launched a surprise attack on an American Navy base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. By this time Japan has been in war with China for several years and has successfully seize the territory of Manchuria. After the Pearl Harbor attack, Japan began a massive campaign of expansion throughout the Southeast Asia-Pacific region. This provoked the Americans to wage war against the Japanese. There were a number of naval attacks but this climaxed in the Battle of Midway on Jun. 3-6, 1942, in which Japan suffered a catastrophic defeat. The war continued throughout the Pacific in 1944 and early 1945. This included a number of major attacks namely the ones in Leyte, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. By the late spring of 1945, most of Japan's conquest was liberated. When the Allied Forces was closing in to Japan mainland they began to hold a heavy bombing campaign against major cities which included Japan and many more. This continued until early August they finally dropped two bombs on two cities namely Hiroshima on August 6 and Nagasaki on August 9. Japan was stunned by the devastation therefore they surrendered a few days later.

Penalties on Japan and reconciliation with harmed countries
